Has anyone had the experience of operating a home based business as a llc or inc. which is NOT mlm related?

I am looking to run a business out of my home (NOT a mlm type venture), but I am not sure which route is best: inc. or llc? What are the differences between the two? Is one more expensive than the other in regards to filing for a business? Thank you in advance for whatever advice is offered.
