What can i do about my boyfriend being insecure and not trusting me?

We've been together for a year and have a baby together.(things moved fast i know) He has always been afraid of me cheating on him, even when i was pregnant. Ive never cheated on him and i dont talk to guys. He is now away at school 5 hours away(and is working on tranfering home, and comes home everyweekend.)but he doesnt want me to leave my son with his grandmother, his mom or mine. and he doesnt want me ever leaving the house without my son. I recently returned to work for 3 hours twice a week and he threw a fit about this. i gave him an altumatum and said if he didnt let me work i was done. so he lets me work but he constantly tells me he doesnt think i want to be with him and tells me no detours on the way home. Ive enver cheated on even thought of cheating and i know he wouldnt either i try hard to show him i want to be with him. besides breaking up what should i do? i am in love with him and w e get along great when hes not being this way.
